Can not find other LAN player.

Post by Gary »

I want to play O.C. with my brother, but I can't seem to get one to connect to another.

One computer can never see the server on LAN, or even in friends... why are the servers not being seen?

I thought so, but it didn't help...

Is there anything not-game related that could cause this?
Router problem?
Firewall?

Ugh, the cables won't be the problem.

Maybe because me and him are plugged into a router that is plugged into another router.

My network is build like this:

Code: Select all

Modem/Router (Speedport) - Router - Router - Dad
       | | |
       - Laptop - Swtich ------ Sister
                            | | |
                            | | ------ Mom
                            | |
                            | ------------ Me
                            | |
                            | ------------ My Server
                            | |
                            | ------------ XBox
                            | |
                            | ------------ MediaReciever
                            |
                            ---------------- Printer/Scanner/Fax
so using more routers DOES work, you jsut need to set it up right (btw. my Provider says that the MediaReciever doesn't work when not plugged into the Modem itself, but as you can see it's far away from that and DOES work, so bla)

Edit: fu at that dumbshit formatting here...
Edit2: fixed....

Nope, just that the server does not respond.

Did you try to connect to the ip the computer has IN the network? And not the external IP.

So it has to be something like 192.168.0.xxx I think.

well i had a smiliar problem yesterday since my old router had as protocoll option "both" for port forwarding so i never bothered about TCP and UDP but then i noticed that something didn't work so i double checked and noticed that i had the port 27015 set as TCP but srcds uses UDP as that port :/, i doubt that it helps, just dropping it in

I have a friend and he has no problem connecting to his sister in CSS. He just goes to the serverbrowser and then LAN. He didn't do anything. :p

Its probably what Neico said.
27015 should be UDP.
