when i log into oc and join a server it says you are banned from this mod why is that?

Denial of Service. It's when you flood something with so much data that the server gets overwhelmed, preventing other people from accessing the server. Basically what happens when you get a bunch of protesters to flood a street for whatever reason, and cars can't pass through the crowd.

Mostly it's done by a bunch of infected computers flooding one computer/servers internet connection so that it can no longer reach the internet.

More like keeping it from talking to others. Though I suppose it could crash the server.

I'd say it's more annoying than crashing a server, since the server can come right back up, but DOSing feels like it takes an eternity.
