New boy in town

Hey there. I just downloaded the mod, and I haven't installed it yet~ It sounds fun though, especially the fishing map.

Can anyone give me a brief introduction on how to use this mod? Is there anything special that I need to notice?

It's a co-op mod so you need to work together with other players that's the main thing you need to know anythng other will come while you play

you should also bear in mind that in 1.23 you have to connect through the console, because the server connection thing was broken by a steam update

Well, this is going to sound stupid but..... how do I load the game. I have installed the full 1.22, and also the 1.23 patch. I also have Source SDK and Source SDK Base installed. But when I run HL2 it just looks as if nothing has been changed. Or am I supposed to run HL2 deathmatch instead?

You are supposed to run Obsidian Conflict Beta 1.23 from steam. if it doesn't show up in the list yet, then try to restart steam...

also make sure that in your obsidian folder the SteamAppID is 215 (not sure about the exact name but you should find it)

Thanks for the help. I found out what's wrong. The installer installed the mod to program files/valve/steam.... etc. But the actual steam folder path is simply program files/steam. So I just cut and pasted the entire folder into the correct place. Now it's showing up on Steam

Yeah mate, you'll find 1.23 is incredibly outdated.
But I promise. 1.3 is on it's way

Note that you can play the campaign missions (HL2, LC, HLS, EP1 and soon EP2)

but that there are also hundreds of maps made by players just like yourself.

Can someone please teach me how to connect to a server. I read that you need to use the console to connect to the IP address, but how? I know how to find the IP address of a server, but what command should I use? Also, when I try to connect directly without using the console, a message pops up saying my game is of a different version. Is that normal?

Btw, what's with the insane vortigaunts? I got sniped by them from like half a mile away. Insane enemies.

Last question, can someone tell me the name of the fishing map?
