A few questions..

Hey guys, its me again.
I just had a few questions regarding the hand texture of the mod, and the flashlight application.

1. I like the rebel sleeves that were implemented into the mod, but I prefer my custom HEV sleeves. Would it cause any damage to the mod or hinder gameplay if I were to remove the armtexture.vtf so my HEV sleeves could show?

2. I can't seem to get my flashlight to change colors. I hit the "apply" button after the changers were made, but it wouldn't do anything, it would just remain the default color. I've tried rejoining the server, and restarting the mod. When I first tried to change the color, I was in a game, could this have possibly broke something?

Thanks in advance,

1.) No, it wouldn't hurt anything by replacing the arm texture.
I'm not sure what would happen if you were to completely remove them, so just put them on your desktop or something so you can replace them if it doesn't work right.

2.) Another problem related to OC's age. There's not really anything you can about it.
I believe there isn't a fix for this, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, for 1, you could try to replace it, but I'm pretty sure our weapon models use different arm mesh with different UV maps, so the hev arm material probably won't work right. For 2, you're probably running in directx 8 mode, and valve's dx8 flashlight shader is locked to a white color, nothing we can do about it.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up, I was confused about the flashlight color myself.

Thanks for clearing it up, but how could I make it run on a mode higher than DirectX 8?

---I forgot to say that I can see other people's flaslights in different colors.

Same with the flashlights, but I'm not sure how to raise it to dx9. What kind of Graphics card are you using?

If your card is defaulting to dx8, then you cannot use dx9 with a playable framerate

I use a Nvidia Geforce 5500 256MB. Sadly, nothing likes that card anymore, which is probably why I can't run anything. Thanks for clearing everything up. I appreciate the help.

I actually just upgraded from that a while ago.
If you need a really good card that will perform, buy an Nvidia 8800, or an 8400(which is what I have)

you are using agp 8x motherboard right?

if you are using agp 8x you have the next options:

nvidia 7600gt or 7600gs series in agp (directx 9 card)

or ati HD 2600 or 2400 series in agp (directx 10 card)

the most powerfull card for agp is the ati HD 3850 in agp (directx 10.1)

in my opinion you should get the ati hd 2400 or the hd 2600... depending of you money and your CPU

if you have pci-x

get ati hd 3650 or nvidia 9600gt

Disregard my previous statement, you obviously know a lot more about this than I do :P

xDDDDDD your recommendations are good (but for games de 8400 is too slow in my opinion) the nvidia 8400 card is not bad, it's low end so it can't perform a lot but for hl2 is fine (without AA)

8800gt is great, but soon nvidia will release soon the 9800gt (the same card as 8800gt but with less power consumption and more fresh thanks to the use of 55nm GPU fabrication process)

other interesting options are the new 9500gt (fresh card, lower power consumption and perfet for running source games and cheap because it costs < 100$) the performance of this card is between the 8600gt and 8600gts

for now ati has the hd 3650, 3850 or the 4850... the last is the fastest card in mid range but it's the ost power hungry card. the ati cards 3xxx series and up) support dx 10.1 but for now no body uses it, for now. the adventadges of directx 10.1 are more performance with aa and other stuff related with games lightning.

sorry for my crap english :( i hope this information will be useful

Thanks for the advice. I was already looking into the Nvidia 9600, along with getting a quad core processor, and a better PCI GPU, since I only have AGP.

Thanks again,
