hey, I'm trying to set up a dedicated server (I followed both the srcds website, and neic0's instructions) but I'm getting an error about not being able to locate the gethsteampipe in the dynamic link library steam_api.dll . Any ideas on what I did wrong?

delete the bin folder in the orangebox folder (where the obsidian folder should be located) and let the tf2 update run again (only tf2 via -game tf)

ok... Then what? When I run srcds.bat I get the same error, and running srcds.exe nothing happens

.bat? well you should show some pieces what commands you use and where, on how to update and start the server etc.

I pretty much just followed your guide on the wiki, and also followed a bit from www.srcds.com. Although I really have no idea how to setup the srcds server, as neither one really say how to

*edit* ok, I got the server running! The only problem now is - I have no idea how to set the server options, and it says I am missing some of the ep2 particle effects. But I assume I just need to copy them over from my ep 2 folder? Meh

*edit deuce*
Ok, nm, I got it all working I believe :D

*edit 3*
nope, didn't work. The interesting though, is that no-body can join my dedicated server, for any valve game/mod. However, I CAN host a listen server pefectly fine. I have a hunch it has to do with the fact even though I have added sv_lan "0" to my server.cfg and autoexec.cfg, and even when I type in sv_lan 0 in the console, that it still says that it is a lan server. Any ideas?

how about using the search function?

well, you see. I just searched for dedicated and server, and after I read through all the dedicated topics of relative topics, and went through 3 pages of the server search... I realized something. Considering how simple questions go unanswered: http://www.obsidianconflict.com/forums/ ... 5809#35809

I really do not think that my question, which is as follows: I have set up a static ip, unblocked all ports, tried turning off my firewall, and dmzing my router at the same time and had no luck getting others to be able to join my game - that I will most likely recieve no help either. So, it is back to synergy I return. God bless you, and good day.

I am in the same boat as you with a similar problem, especially with some users just saying go use the search button when sometimes that just DOES NOT help.

Amen brother!!! Getting any help around to launch the mod...is like pulling teeth. I paid for a Gaming server company to host this mod for me.....and They told they can not support the mod because NO clear instruction on the mod installation or set up!

So I am trying to do it myself.

And let me say...if you do a "search" on server in the forums, you will see I am not the only one with this problem. You have got what could be a great mod here, but we need to get out and make it well know to more than the 15 repeate users here in the forums.

I Set up my oc server following this guide without any problems, and i didnt get paid for doing so, so i dont see how a "professional" game server company could have problems setting it up, and if it doesnt work on first try, they have to keep trying, as they get paid for it.
But oh well, thats why i hate most of these dedicated game server hosts, they are not able to set up a server for a non-commercial game because they actually have to do something instead of just letting the automatic hlds update run.

Thats why its the best to rent a windows server/ linux root, they may be more expensive, but you can do whatever you want on it.

In the instance of this mod I admit it's not easy to get a server up and running. It's somewhat due to the nature of the mod. Where the mod allows for so much content to be mounted. A server can be set up in any manner of ways.
I have to agree with W0rf0x game server companies just dont expect you when they sell you a 'any mod' server that you request to have half the content from 4-5 other games added.

Naked I thought you were now having problems with SourceMod and installing it? I'd love to help although I know nothing about it. But with stuff like addons etc they normally have forums where your more likely to get a more focused look at your problem.

I added the links you probably know already but second one is helpful to all.[/url]

Fug4life, thank you for your offer AND I must say...now that I have vented and calm down....NEICO, has tried to help also.

1. Art of Warfare Central has been working on this for 2 weeks now....I cancel the server because I could not use it for OC and they could not figure out how to get it to work correctly....Then they upon cancelling ask me to give them another couple of days to figure it out.

2. My problem : I got Sourcemod to work...somewhat...I can also use Rcon....and the game does come up and play....however!!!

NOT all models are correct.....in oc_breakout the combine APC you can walk through....the chain link fence...walk through it also....and there are other models..boxes and such.

I have been told that this is most likely a mount problem, I have and AOWC has use the wiki to build/install the mod.....but same problem!

We are going over and over this problem, but since neither them nor I have experience with this mod and setting it up on a server......I ask the creator and "team" for help.

So help if you can....telling me to search the forums and read the wiki have not helped.......and yes I have even had the guys at AOWC to come here and read the forums and use the wiki.

So there it is........not a big deal, we do have 16 servers running OC now so I guess thats enough. I just wanted to add one more to the bunch and put my map up there and maybe have AOWC put on their web site that they can host "HL2 Mod Obsidian Conflict" $11 a month for a 8 slot server would bring alot more people into the mix... and grow this mod.

Well, I'll step down from my soap box now.

I think the things you say are good, of course the more servers the better.

Just a note though I can't join your server because it says that my version of oc_breakout differs fromt he server, now I've played oc_breakout on other servers so I suspect you don't have 1.33 installed? correctly or something is corrupt?

But I can logon and play no problem.......But hey if will or may help someone tell me what the problem is I will upgrade.
Will let you know when I have done so.
