Problem setting up listenserver

Hello. None of my friends can connect to my server. I am using the default settings, except for the name of the server (partymetroid) and the password. Whenever I enter the game, I type in sv_lan 0 into the developer console, to no avail. All of my friends get the "LAN Games Restricted to Class C Clients" message.
I am not behind a firewall, and I am directly connected to my modem (no router).
I would like to note that, however, if I DO connect through my router, we cannnot even get this far. What ports should I open up to the world?

I set up my server like this:
map oc_archive;sv_lan 0;heartbeat;sv_password XXXXX
So, change that oc_archive to map you want. You need to type these in console at main menu.

you can put that into game.cfg as well (or autoexec.cfg)

Neither of these posts helped me find a solution. We are still getting the LAN error. I typed in sv_lan 0 into the console to no avail. I typed in heartbeat into the console also to no avail.
At least I have my ports forwarded correctly now...

sv_lan 0 takes effect on the next mapchange

You could simply use Hamachi and connect with your friend that way.

I see. Thank you very much.
That's kind of strange, though. :S

I've been trying to host a server as well.
Even with all of that done, the server DOES show up on the sv list.
When people join however, they just lose connection (after 4 retries)
I honestly don't know why this isn't working.
Does anybody have any idea to what could be going on?
I can host listen servers in episode 1 source games, but not in OC.
Anybody know why this isn't working?

I've always typed in map oc_undersiege to test my maps and random people would show up and run around my map while I'm testing it. When I checked the servers list it would show up.
However, recently I selected "Create Server" from the main menu and ever since, my server no longer appears in the server list. Creating a server somehow corrupts one of the files that sends your server info to the master list. I checked everything in the obsidian folder (not including subfolders) and the cfg folder and they don't seem to be the problem.
So what file did it mess with?

You know, us mappers are a bit lazy sometimes and we won't put a map on a dedi just to test something. It's easier to start up a listen..

Can't you in the console just type "map oc_whatever"

Oh yeah there was still a problem left..
Try to use heartbeat (it should send information to the master server).

I have the same problem when people tries to join my server, i think i have the right ports forwarded on my router and allowed it in the windows firewall. Wich ports is required to be open for all to work correctly?

It's a process of elimination.
Also, why so bumping?
