Okay, I know alot of you will wag your fingers at me for two reasons here. One, I used Steam to obtain my copy of HL2. Two, Steam raped my system to death and forced me to buy a new hard drive, and I pirated the game afterwards. I saw it as necessary, I payed good money for the game. Steam is the real thief here. Infact they haven't even refunded my money yet(I demanded they pay me for the hard drive as well).

So obviously you see the problem here, your mod is Steam-integrated and I am not. I will not install the "cyber" copy of HL2 I own on Steam, never again. But I have two other (hardly-working)Steam-installed games on my rig, so I can't take Steam off without losing more money.

If you guys can help me here that would be great. If you cannot, I will be forced to download the lesser, non-Steam-integrated "Synergy" mod, which I heard is NOT a blast.

Wait wat, steam wrecked your harddrive? Lol I doubt it. No wonder they won't give you money for a new harddrive. Steam doesn't break your harddrive, it's old age. Or just a manufacture fault. Or rough handling. Besides that, you can always log back in your account reinstall it. So why in the world do you think you have to pirate hl2?

There is something lacking in your post. I think it's called logic.

Correct me if I'm wrong he's asked for help, hasn't really said in what area.

I think he wants the mod to be non-steam required.

End of the day Sir! There are many reasons why a harddrive fails, I'm not saying steam is full of win as it clearly fails often, seeing as it has weekly updates its got to be the most updated piece of software known.

Playing hl1 mods on WON servers was sooo much better, online was online and offline was offline. two defined things. Now steam really struggles with those definitions for me.

As much as I hate steam, I use it to access games I want to play.

Basically you gotta bite the bullet sometimes.

End of the day steam has all the reciepts if you purchased online. get steam back and get you copy of hl2 back and get legal!

Seriously.

Great work, guys. This is the most useless forum I've ever been on. Steam DID infact ruin my hard drive(and maybe a couple of other hardware-related things I haven't discovered yet). Just because you've never heard of a problem doesn't make it non-existent. Next time someone asks for your help, try and be less ignorant.

Have fun with Steam.

Give clear evidence, then we'll believe you. For all we know, it could have been because you downloaded prnvrs.exe or something.

I'm sorry we aren't as stupid as you.

Have fun believing in your nonsense.
(calling us ignorant, lol!)
