Where did the name 'Obsidian Conflict' come from?

Since I first downloaded the mod; I've just had to ask, where did you guys get the name 'Obsidian Conflict'?
It doesn't sound like a common name to hear, so what made you think of it?

The same goes with Synergy,both coop mods that I wanted to know the name where they did come from

Well, I thought synergy had something to do with combining, turns out I was right-ish.
–noun, plural -gies.
1. combined action or functioning; synergism.
2. the cooperative action of two or more muscles, nerves, or the like.
3. the cooperative action of two or more stimuli or drugs.
Atleast that's what dictionary.com says.
Obsidian Conflict sounds like a name for a team deathmatch mod, but then again Obsidian Conflict has that too...
Sudden Realization After Exiting This Forum: The name means a fight or disagreement over volcanic glass. Interesting, interesting. Now there needs to be a volcano island escape map.

Acording to HLPortal.de was the first story concept of the Mod that the combines feared that the humans could be big warriors so they would lure them with promises into a secret place where they had to overcome the so called "Obsidian Trails", they also say that this has changed to an open story now (which is what OC is today)
it should also be noted that the orginal team from OC was from Missing Information that dected to make a new mod for multiplayer MI (something like that) which is probably how they came up with the name
I would need to ask Skidz about where it came from tough

First off, lol.
Second, I meant into the name. I'd understand if it was just Combine vs. Rebels, but then theres the fact that antlions and headcrabs also play big rolls in the mod.

Rebels and Combine are the main protagonists and antagonists in the entire franchise. Antlions and Zombies have no real goal other than to kill anyone from either side. Rebels are there to protect Earth and the citizens, Combine are there to take it over.

I always thought it was tied to the stone. I didn't think of the whole light vs. dark thing though. I just thought that obsidian just represented the black of evil and thus, the conflict. I do like the LvsD idea better.

And more importantly,the Rebels does actually have a great man in their hands that can actually save the world,the one so called Gordon Freeman,involved in the incident at the Black Mesa.
