I have that exact same problem now and since no one really told any solution for it on that topic, im going to make new one.

So, i installed Win7 yesterday, steam worked as it should have, but then i reinstalled my OC.
After reinstalling it, my steam icon is always replaced with OC icon on taskbar and if i pin that to the taskbar, close and restart steam, it will launch steam and obsidian conflict.
i honestly dont know why, or how to fix it.

I start my steam from steam.exe and its still always replaced with the obsidian conflict icon.
If i pin and unpin it on taskbar, it turns back to steam, but if i then right click the icon (to go to the menus and such) it turns back to OC.

oh yea and if i just pin it to taskbar, close all steam windows and try to open the main steam window from the pinned icon, it will launch obsidian conflict, not steam.

Also i dont know why "Obsidian Conflict Beta 1.35" appears seperately above the "pin" thing.

Bumping this topic to help,

1: Go to your steam directly.
2: Delete the Obsidian Icon in it
3:???
4: Profit

>.< It's what I initialy thought because it could've been the only option but I didn't post because I thought that was stupid because oc installer would have to call that oc icon "steam.ico" which I doubted it would do.

Good thing it's solved now.

Btw what show is that?

well I've just got a pc with windows7 all I can say is I only allow oc to launch via steam, so I un-check add desktop icon/startbar icon etc, and launch through steam like I've always done.

I'd suggest a reinstall (especially seeing as youve just reinstalled anyhow) and try launching only through steam as your only option.

okay I have a possible solution;
first did you try deleting the "ClientRegistry.blob" to force it to update?
and if that doesn't work try replacing the "Steam.exe" with a copy of mine
