There was? Didn't know that.Kinhoshi wrote:On the original Unreal, co-op was built in. Unless you're talking about "Return to Na Pali" co-op, which according to my brother would skip maps.
Yeah, I was referring to the "Return to Na Pali" mod. Might dig out my old dusty copy of Unreal and have a looky later. Ta.

Id rather get kicked in the balls . people were raving about the game well I played it and only thought one thing, hmmm havent I played this before? Oh yeah on my pc in the form of many many different shooters. And the sequel? Even worse. I didnt see 1 thing that halo had that brought something new to the table.

It's a console game, as such you tend to compare it to other console games - at the time was there anything comparable to it on other consoles? Let's see:Airborne wrote:Id rather get kicked in the balls . people were raving about the game well I played it and only thought one thing, hmmm havent I played this before? N64: Conker's Bad Fur Day
PS: Grand Theft Auto III or Metal Gear Solid 2
Of course there were other FPS on the PC - the majority of popular titles for the PC tend to be of the FPS variety.
And if you're comparing a cheap home console to an expensive cutting edge PC of the time you're being a dick.
Lets look at the figures - it's sold over 6 million copies worldwide and was at the time the killer application for the Xbox. I doubt so many people would've bought it if it were shit. In fact for months after the release the majority of my video game playing friends talked of nothing more.
And what did it bring to the table? It brought some of the greatest co-op action ever to a home console. Which in my opinion is pretty commendable.
Yes unconnected its called a hype. Dont expect me to like a console shooter after playing a pc game. If more people had computers and played games like half-life before halo came out I doubt it would have sold as well. Besides split screen sucks.Period. Py 2 cents and im not changing it. Im done. By the way....Did you ever bother to play the shooters on the n64? they didnt look as good but they were basicaly the same and some of them better. goldeneye ring a bell?

Hype - thats your own opinion - quite frankly I'd like to believe that the gaming press are better suited to review a game than some anonymous person on the internet. No offense. The fact that the gaming press loved the game and gave it such high review scores underlines my point perfectly (cited: http://halo.bungie.org/pressscans/).Airborne wrote:Yes unconnected its called a hype. Also, the fact you don't want to play a FPS on a console after playing a pc one is a moot point to be honest - some people either don't have a pc or a pc capable of playing a brand new game anyway.
Either way you're entitled to your opinion be it heavily biased or not. The fact remains that the title did exceptionally well breaking several sales records after its release. So whether you personally did not enjoy the title, it remains obvious that the vast majority of the public did.
You go on to mention GoldenEye (actually one of my favourite titles of all time - I still have a N64 with 4 controllers specifically for playing it and Perfect Dark) - yes at the time and to an extent it remains one of the best console shooters ever released in terms of gameplay. I don't understand why you mention it though - the discussion was whether Halo was boring, not if GoldenEye was better. Which again, is a rather subjective question.
Summing up - its obvious that we'll just have to agree to disagree on this, but the figures previous cited suggest that the vast majority of the public don't share the same opinion as you.
