I'm probably a bit behind on saying this, but big ISP's like to spread out their customer load and have different sub-companies that they own run certain areas. My dad is technically with TalkTalk, but it shows up as Opal Telecom on the speedtest hoo-dickey.

My dad also showed me what internet exchanges look like on the inside a few days ago, it's basically a hunk of white plastic with 50 messy scrambled wires scrambled about in the box, it just goes to show how terrible internet is in the UK and how Virgin really need to sort their fibre-optic stuff out.

I guess now I know why I have random spikes in my ping at night. I've seen it go as high as it can while in game, 999.

ping spiking at night...maybe because a lot of people use the internet at that period?(playing at the day looks fine for me,seems that does not have not that much of ppl on the internet or in the online servers...that's good)

Currently at a different house babysitting some kids and, while downloading Alien Swarm I noticed the internet was a shitload faster than mine so I want to see how much better it was:
