Have a button that on use parents the player to the buggy, on use again unparents?

We'll I'm not really sure how I go about setting a system to auto parent a specific player. I don't even know how either.


In the mean time, let me tell you more about the Buggy, it has a back mounted machine gun, it uses the GDI standard 200 round .50 cal cartridges. If you run out of ammo you will have to run back to the nearest stash of cartridges and reload the MG.

Well, you just have a trigger zone and make it parent anything in that area to the buggy? Also means I could chuck a few ammo mags in the back and parent them aswell :D

Yeah but the thing is I've never used a fully dynamic parenting system like this before, let alone parenting with players. I really hate to ask but can you come up with an example system and send it to me so I can see how it works and make one of my own?

Well, I don't have hammer at the moment so i'll need a few things from you;

Are they already parented (the gun stands)

Are the buggies pre built off map and 'teleported' in?

This Map will become totally AWESOME with the Stridermod Vehicles.
With enough players this would become real War Action.

You could use a Brush Enhanced APC as Harvester!

Good news everyone, out buildings are now fully destructible!

Also we already have a Harvester model, it's done for the most part but the bones are fraked and we need someone to fix it up.

Wow, looks great. How works the "build" system? Can be builded Sentries with that?

The build system is simple, each crate is a crate with the structure parented to it (as a 'ghost'). When you press use on the crate, the crate changes the color and transparency as well as the solidity of the building model accordingly and then after changing the buildings parent to null, kills itself. That's really all there is to it, it's a pretty simple set up, the resourcing system is alot more indepth and complex.

Also these aren't NPC sentries either, why? Because frak NPC sentries, these are brush based with an AI attached to them (although I prefer the manual version). However I'm not 100 sure if they still work, I haven't messed with them since the early alpha stage. OH also, if your looking for a better video Maestro Fénix, here's a much never video than the one I have posted.

Starring yours truly.

Even this video is outdated, comapred to some of the last builds and play tests.

Glad its back in production, there was a lot of people waiting for this map!

The ideal will be change antlions for Combines for change the model and use a custom model to be NOD/GDI soldiers (for example: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=107379)
