There was no update in this thread for a long time although i made some progress on this map, so i decided to finally post some news.
The map is now split into 2 parts, topside and underground, the topside area could be considered done, its fully playable, only some visual polishing would be left, the underground base is what is slowing me down, some stuff is still in layout stage and theres almost no npc scripting done yet.
But here are some screenshots.

totally agree with vasili.
you could perhaps give the combine custom names like "Bad Combine Soldier" or whatever.
i know it's a shitload of work if you already have put them all in the right place, so don't worry,
it's also ok, if you leave it like that.
Edit: put a smiley so you'd understand the joke, hell-met.

Vasili has a point about the road, now i know you say you still are polishing the first of the two maps, one thing I would like to see is the grass that is in the central reservation (middle of highway) would be nice to see that turnt into a displacement so there are shrubs growing in the middle as well as the entrance to combine base, or another grass texture that will show taller grass. I did think of bushes but I think thats too overwhelming.

If possible (both space and scripting wise), when first seeing the light of day, a few rebels are taking cover in a bus, and when trying to approach, a strider blasts it with the singularity gun, setting it alight and blowing it on its side, killing everyone inside, maby spilling a rocket crate out of it... allowing the rebels sacrifice to aid the player in anti-armor duty.
A bullet sounds the same in every language.
