I have to. The city hall alone is based off of the Vienna Rathausplatz. That bitch is huge.

If I can gather up the work ethic to finish this map, it will be pretty cool. I wish I could tell you some of the things that are going into this project. I don't want to ruin the surprise though.

Hey guys, I'm back to the mapping scene with much better computer so I'll be able to work on my projects with more optimistic and efforts. :)

Basically a WIP of my SP map so far. I might convert it to OC.
Me fooling around.

Oh F*** my eyes!

You definitely covered Real alright...

Looks good so far but I must ask, is it going to be THAT bright?

I'm not sure, I think the map look bright because of the "fake bloom" given off by the whiteness. But yeah, I'll try to make it dimmer since lot of people have been complaining about it. -.-"

Fixed ambient lighting.

Dev structures textured.

Wow.. nice use of german words here. xD
Anyways, why especially this one? :S
Screenshots look very solid already. Keep up the great work!

@Protostar: I see good use of Color Correction here (It looks like it at least) BUT your ambient lighting is definitely not fixed.. too many pure black spots or whole black areas.
Does look like good start for a map.

@Blues: Ah, nice to see that you are still alive and active.. :P
Regarding your map: I think theres too much empty space in it right now (Like already mentioned.. would be perfect for a GMod-map).
The idea with the road would be a nice one actually... Add some more Buildings/houses,etc.

Thank you, Deathy. Unfortunately I don't have that much time now, Abi, Umzug and stuff...
I hope that I'll soon be able to fill that empty map a little ;)

I worked on another room of that map though (it's behind the hall that you enter through the door in one of the pics), I'd show some pics if I had been able to finish the dome (is that even the right word? XD), but I think I'll have to make a model for it because Hammer always changes the vertex-edited brushes so there are small gaps after saving and reloading the map.

@Protostar: Maybe increase the ambient brightness a little, but I have to say that I really like the contrast, espacially in that storage building thing.
Anyways, with the cloudy skies you have it would look different, haha.

Edit: Well, I'll post a pic anyway:

What? I'm not W0rf0x. :?
Don't you see the difference between Kawazoe-San and whoever is on W0rf0x's avatar? xD

Blues, you should concentrate on a rough layout/basic structure first.. if you start building models this early, you won't get far with this map because you'll spend too much time making models than actually making progress in the map itself.

Look, you made her sad, now you get some shana beating

Also i agree, start with a layout first, youll be much faster that way.

Anime stuff, all the same to me, sorry, Deathy :P

Btw. I thought you were like dead or something, because you haven't been here for so long, so it's just normal to call every anime avatar I see 'W0rf0x' :lmao:

@ Blues forget a perfect dome, either add a well disguised displacement subdivided, with internal collumns or go for a 'dome like' stucture as seen in de_dust (Its not a dome but give off a similar feel). And yes technical V-tex editing has a habit of warping on save and a restart of hammer.

@Proto black areas, are a bit of a no, no. though cube mapping can sort a lot of it out. Also setting/playing with the light fade distances helps.
