oc_scientist_hunt_deathrace

Well I started getting serious with this so I guess its a WIP...

This is actually was the skybox I made for Angry's map, he always said I could use w/e from the map, so I took the parts I made and turned it into something different.

Scientist Hunt was one of my first HL1 Mods I used to play offline when I had my 56k, so this map is inspired and a tribute to that, though I had always wanted some form of deathrace 2000 (film) turned into a mod so this is the above with a bit of Carmaggedon (game) and Madmax (film) thrown in for good measure.

This will be an Episode 2 map! Sorry those of you who are missing out, but Ep2 just has more I can play with in hammer for this map.

Map lay out and build is 99% done with all props etc, only need to add the mahjority of game mechanics (tons of npcs etc).

Features -

Jalopys
Buggies
Check point racing
Random check point racing
Random kill point racing
Kill point racing
Race Cam
Freeride
Freekill
Time Trials (in some form, perhaps linked to checkpoint racing, a bit like in GrandTheftAuto).

And some unlockable race features like 'classic' and 'reverse track'

A quick video preview of the checkpoint system (one of the race modes), there will be easy, med, hard and extreme with appropriate fail limits for each.

Waow your map looks really funny and cool ! I need to buy ep2 >_< Someone whant to buy it for me :D ? no ? ^^

Thanks for the comment, alas sorry no.

But you should really consider buying it, for an episode it's content is huge, especially compared to ep1. It really is almost another game.
And playing it with oc makes its lifespan even longer.

Looks interesting. Uh... can 2 people ride in a jalopy? Having a driver and gunner would be useful... hell, you could make a survival race where you try to outrun a swarm of antlions, having a gunner to watch your back would be useful. Well, just an idea that you could use later if you need.

Passengers must be coded, lua scripts for GMOD will not work.

The multi-seated vehicles will be in 1.4 which will unfortunately not come out anytime soon... :(

Ya, it'd be nice to have, though I can wait till 1.4 I can always change the map to suit.

I'll probably post an update soon, I work on the map everyday so things are going well, I was looking at finishing at the end of this week, but maybe it'll be more like the week after.

Sorry for lack of updates and dont get excited nothing to report really apart from, of course things are taking longer than expected. I'd love to show more of the map but fact is there isn't much more, things have improved in the map visually but for once I'm trying to discipline myself and not showoff everything. I'll try update the exsisting pictures at the weekend maybe.

Anyhow you should all be playing R-day this weekend!
