Melee Attack Wait, what?

After looking through the request side of the forums I noticed that a melee attack was one of the most popular topics their, a melee attack would be a nice feature but the OC team lacks animators. I then realized I used 3ds Max for 3 years however it was just basic stuff hell I don't even know how to compile so 2 months ago I tried to teach myself how to animate. Ultimately after a 30 minute job this was the result.

Very basic and in my opinion horrible but I am planning on fixing it up some time tomorrow. What do you guy's think?

A bit faster and it would probably look much better.

I was thinking of a way that we could do melee attacks with any weapon and no need to animate anything(only add an animation from an other model), I said it in the topic, if you look towards the end.

Though the whole point of it was to be able to melee no madder the weapon.

Did some more tweaking and I think it looks much better.

Also just a quick note I didn't make the models or the materials, just the animations. They are merely place holders for now.

Good stuff!

I'd love to learn animation.

needs to be faaaasteeeer... :P
but than could also be tweaked in the QC by setting the animation to play at like 60fps instead of 30 or 40 - might be more resource intensive though...

just do the same movement on your own and see how quick you would stab somebody with that movement. then you know how quick the animation should be

Ask, and you shall receive.

In related news I am working on another animation project for OC. I think you guys are going to like what you see.

I tried making the animations for them but they didn't look good. However, you are on to something with the twirl. The problem with them is that they will become 10x harder to animate but I am willing to give it a go.

hauling out is great now, but the actual stab is still a bit slow :D

If I edit the actual stab any further it could go down to a 1 second animation, which would be way too fast. :(

I must admit some weapon reloads are within 1 sec.
