So the beta sdk update is out...

...And the lighting preview finally works :o
heres a comparison:

Normal "3D Textured" mode:
Image

"3D Lighting Preview" mode:
Image
(render time: 1 second, only needs to be rendered once every map load.)

"3D Ray-traced Preview" mode:
Image
(render time: ~1 minute, needs to get re-rendered every time you move the camera.)

I have a AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ cpu and 2 gb ram, so you can guess how long it will take to render on slower pcs.

I think you just gotta add the command line like they say. and choose between ep2 or ep1 (ep2 default & ep1 you still set -engine ep1)

And im not sure if you need ep2 installed for it to work.

The SDK Launcher is also useful because there will be no topics like:"My SDK doesn't start, OMFG!" on mapping boards.

The 3d preview/raytracing thingy looks ok...
Other Editors have that already, but Hammer is still my fav. :)

Hgrunts and aliens are totally out of place in that map, but maybe i add synths.

npc combine armored is almost like the original heavy combine soldier from the leak with the armor you had to shoot off. I wonder if Valve will end up using it.
