Changing the assassins render mode/colour etc?

It's the only npc I'm having trouble with when changing it's render modes,
is it beacuse of the cloak function of the npc, I trying to use distort,colour,fx 155 (transparncey).
It's only the colour that dosent take effect is the colour changing, distort and transparancy work, I've tried the render modes colour texture, additive, but no luck
