I think you should go back making blocky HL1 maps for Snarkcafe and leave Source for the people who can actually handle hammer

Yes, but in my opinion is the fun more important than the Brushwork.

Turrican-style maps are both fun and looking great, that's no excuse.

a new map is always welcome.
you need to improve the detail.
nothing that an update doesnt fix.

There are 3 things on that screenshot that i dont like:
-You didnt include the custom textures
-Why did you put nodraw on displacement faces? just destroy the unneeded faces
-My fps are very low
And dont let the npcs be on the map from the beginning, let them spawn with point_templates or npc_template_makers
when they are needed
Didnt make a gameplay test yet, simply because i dont want to play maps that look bad
and also have a bad fps rate

it was actually quite entertaining though short map..
but guys, shut the frak up, it doesnt look OHAWESOME but it's fun. and my fps was fine even when i had utorrent on
try to make part2 longer btw

If it's genuinely fun then thats where most of the points are, but graphics and optimization shouldnt be overlooked completely...
