Either way, when they do finally decide to call 1.3 "done" the mod will get a popularity surge, for like a month, then it will plummet again in the void between updates.

The problem is people who loved the mod a year ago have forgotten about it now. Only players on the mod is us, the community behind it. The casual gaming crowd that it was starting to get back in the day has completely diminished.

The only way the mod will "die" is if skidz and hyper simply say "frak this, I don't care anymore."

I never got the impression that they were about to do that, just that they barely ever find time to work on the mod.

I think they should just wait until the new sdk comes out, and implement all the new shit when releasing 1.3

So we get both the awesome OC features and the orange box shit

Wouldnt mind some stridermod vehicles

Obsidian isn't dead, I just have a lot of real-world commitments with school, including creating another mod for my final high school graduation requirements. I'm also kind of on break right now, after working all summer, I just need some time off from Obsidian. 1.3 will come one day. Synergy doesn't have any impact on Obsidian's development.

Also I'd like to point out that actually, us forum posters are the minority of players on the servers these days, I still think the past couple of weeks there has been a surge of players for no reason. Playing on both W0rf0x's and Zteers. Seriously. Most of you forum posters, are playing TF2, which is cool, tfc waited 7 years for a revival, let them have their surge.....

Be that as it may fug, no one can deny us forum members have had a profound impact on the development of obsidian, and it's lifespan.
As long as there are active forum members and players, it appears we have an equilibrium.

Its nice to see we still have supporters after all of the delays. Not only am I somewhat taking a break from Obsidian, I am also trying to think of some good additions that would really separate Obsidian from every other Half-Life 2 coop mod. Something that would bring in the players. Unfortunately we need some modelers to actually get somewhere.
