all he did was stop recording each time it loads the next level so that he can't mess up. i would love to see someone do this in hl2

Its quite old as far as i recall. A speedrun throught Opposing Force along with Half-Life2 has been made. Im not sure about BlueShift.

He skipped loading times, evevators, and the part in test chamber. So, no, he did not go through it that fast. Most likely, he took a few hours. He just edited it to make it seem as if he did get 48 mins.
