oc_garys_simple_background (Client Background Map)
Okay, I made this simple background map. It's supposed to be simple so that it doesn't interfere or distract from the menu and so it can load faster. Basically, this is just so the you can see the player model before you get into a server, it also allows you to see your player model from most angles as the player rotates.
Now I don't know if it will work for everyone, so if it doesn't work for you let me know.
Bugs/Notes:
*Currently the only thing wrong with it is the player shakes quickly up and down, this might bother some, if it bothers too many people I can stop it, but then the player won't rotate.
*If your computer really sucks, then this will likely lag if your settings are too high.
*Player Models with "$translucent 1" in their VMT will not cast shadows.

Very good. Is dynamic (you can change the model, well, in fact is a map, so you can XD), and i like the shadows.
Is true that the model "shakes" a bit when is rotating, but isnt weird.
P.D: When is loading, is used the first background image from HL2, and later changes to this just before finishing loading. Is a bug?
P.P.D: Is your personal playermodel?
P.P.P.D: Remember, like the rest of background maps, if you use the console it will not work.

Yeah, but as the readme says you do have to overwrite the chapterbackgrouds.txt, the rest can stay as an add-on.
I might release(or others can) mapp-adds or what ever that can add music.(right?)

Yes, mapadds can be used to add music (ambient_generic + logic_auto delayed OnMapSpawn output) without the hassle of a recompile.

Apparently, Valve can't make games beyond the number 2.
I think the only time we'll get a Source SDK code update is when it starts having purchasable hats integrated, i.e. hatconomy.

Thanks for all the input guys. When I get home, I will learn how to make mapadds and put together some music addons along with a rotator remover, shadowmap disabler and mirror remover. Allowing users to turn it into what ever they want.
Though I will release a updated version of the map first, this was more of a beta.

I'm going to release a new version of the map, there won't be a noticeable difference, but it is required for the Mirror Remover.
Currently working on mapadds:
Rotator Disabler(Some people might like the rotating and/or "shaking")
Mirror Remover(Some people might like it)
Music Player(just the stock OC music)
Custom Music Player(allows the user to set a song)
Not going to do the Shadow Disabler, as it's only as demanding as the flashlight and anyone that just turns their Shadow setting to Med or Low won't have dynamic shadows anyway.

Nothing personal, but why the map is VAC safe? I dont want get banned directy in the menu (i dont use hacks or modified DLL, and i try kept clean the computer of all the vyrus. I dont want lose my account because Steam detected something strange).

IDK, i´m paranoid with VAC and the fact that can ban you play online on multiple games (in the beginning of the times, when i only had CSS, doesnt matter too much for me, maybe the reputation, but not more. Now i have lots of games that i bought with my money, and i dont want lose them).W0rf0x wrote:why would it ban you for a background map?

Don't think you have anything to worry about. Also, I can't control that, it's the way OC(or Source) handles menu maps.
