This is pretty much the reason i made this. I liked the model and got bored, that usually ends up in me animating. I never really intended for this to be official in any way.Andrax17 wrote:actually it doesent say so anywhere, since its something sin most probably made for fun.Maestro Fénix wrote:In any placeW0rf0x wrote:Where does it say this is official?

Not really Valves fault for optimizing their own games since you aren't actually supposed to see it.BiElGaMe wrote:(Thanks to Valve, again *sigh*)

Indeed. But it shows their lazyness.Andrax17 wrote:Not really Valves fault for optimizing their own games since you aren't actually supposed to see it.BiElGaMe wrote:(Thanks to Valve, again *sigh*)
Re: Gauss Gun Replacement
wait.. how? it doesent matter if you don't model the parts player is not supposed to see, the less polys there is, the more optimized it is, its not lazyness, its optimization. its the same as in mapping, you don't texture places you can't see.BiElGaMe wrote:Indeed. But it shows their lazyness.Andrax17 wrote:Not really Valves fault for optimizing their own games since you aren't actually supposed to see it.BiElGaMe wrote:(Thanks to Valve, again *sigh*)
Re: Gauss Gun Replacement
This thread somehow seems to attract uninformed posts, doesn't it?
If anything, removing unseen faces takes effort, since usually both the view-and world model are initially made from the same base model which is pretty much always completely modeled out and fully detailed.

This. In general, the less to render, the better your framerate/fps. Afaik most Valve games don't have ironsights (except DoD:S anyway), so why bother drawing something that can't even be seen (the technique to filter them out is known as back-face culling)?W0rf0x wrote:If anything, removing unseen faces takes effort, since usually both the view-and world model are initially made from the same base model which is pretty much always completely modeled out and fully detailed.
The more you know.jpg
Apparently, Valve can't make games beyond the number 2.
I think the only time we'll get a Source SDK code update is when it starts having purchasable hats integrated, i.e. hatconomy.
Please do not make assumptions you are not knowledgeable enough to make - that just backfires on yourself.
Tick me off, and I'll be sure to give you the golden treatment. Haven't you heard? Silence is golden.

At least I hope the 357 model is fixed just like you guys put for the smg1.I don't like models with flaws.

Re: Gauss Gun Replacement
There was a pack of "fixed" viewmodel for using in Razer/another type of dynamic controls, but it become lost. Anyway, the process is simple: pick the weapon model and mirror it.

Why do people always use this small text? I had to use my glasses to even read it...
PS. Quit complaining and be grateful you even have a working model.

Re: Gauss Gun Replacement
The model is pretty blocky and the texture doesn't look like much more then some basic colors with some basic shaders. The animations cause the trail to of the shot to look lie it's firing downwards, which just looks strange. It's a nice start, but it has a long way to go.
