The tutorial was outdated, i just updated it on both the wiki and this page.
Even though further updating is required for the new hl2/ep1 orangebox update, i'll get to that later.

i want 2 ask 2 things

first off do i need 2 get ep1 and ep2 stuff because i don't own them and i want 2 be able 2 play my own server

second off i don't think i have the space for all that

You don't need to have ep1 or ep2. If you don't include them on your server, you just won't be able to play maps with their content in them.

Bottom line: It's not mandatory to run a server.

Does obsidian only support windows , i only run linux boxes and the server won't work..
