Then I'll love racing on one of these garrysmod racing maps with the ep2 junker with a buddy of mine.
Hell considering his truly amazing driving skills I'm pretty sure I could beat him with the normal buggy, while he crashes in every single wall with the jalopy.
You guys just gotta fix the MP vehicle stuttering like the synergy blokes did.

The stuttering is because of lag, the best minds on the net couldn't figure out how to setup good physics simulations client and server and predict because you cant. Even Valve have told us it is impossible currently without physics system access and a lot of time. The only way to do it is have the vehicles entirely client side which means it would be easy to cheat. I remember Garry talking about this also and his ideas for cheat protection on the server watching the client. He has engine access so would have the advantage over us for that as well.Fire_cube wrote:Then I'll love racing on one of these garrysmod racing maps with the ep2 junker with a buddy of mine.

Just rely on the fact that it cant be done correctly at this current time. The source engine does not support online vehicle physics.
distopia has fixed the model lagging the physics arent fixed but the look has been fixed. oh andthe strider isent useing the ep1 ai is it?skidz wrote:The stuttering is because of lag, the best minds on the net couldn't figure out how to setup good physics simulations client and server and predict because you cant. Ill have to check Dystopia someday, Teddy is one of the best coders out there. The Jeep in HL2 is a complex physics piece, they might have just setup new simplified physics like most mods with vehicles use these days.gtaiiilc wrote:distopia has fixed the model lagging the physics arent fixed but the look has been fixed. oh andthe strider isent useing the ep1 ai is it?skidz wrote:The stuttering is because of lag, the best minds on the net couldn't figure out how to setup good physics simulations client and server and predict because you cant. I just feel vehicles in halflife2 seem way more trouble than they're worth, They can never match the dizzy heights of say tribes2 or battlefield desertcombat. I feel a little sad saying this as vehciles in games say 3 or 4 years ago I thought was really going to be the future of fps, Then when I played halflife2 I was dissapointed. Don't get me wrong I think that vehicles really suit a co-op mod, probably more than some other types. But after taxing people around in blackhawks with 50 cal's fitted, or flying heavy troop carriers in tribes 2. I'd have to say that, for co-op a little 2 man buggy, really needs to be a 8 man apc! If anything the helicopter in zero-g and helicave, is more fun!
I know it's about variety. It all depends on how easy it is to implement bug free! And how much time it consumes!
Fire_cube, Here is a sp player mod that is very Xen'y, I'm thinking of sending him a nice email asking for his textures!
