I'm always a fan of Zteer's maps.
I've seen a few new versions of his mapselect for both Obsidian (had a Snow Japan themed skybox) & Synergy (Synergy has mini umizuri in the middle). But this is by far the most ambitious...

nah, he created some illusion looking like the portal effect. but at first i
was astounded, too... until i had a deeper look into that portal and noticed
that Kleiner and Breen in the room below didn't hit each other, but just
moved without changing the animation.
i think, basicly it's three rooms, one copy is above and one below the main room.
in those (at least in the lower one), there's some prop_dynamic models
(Kleiner, Breen) parented to the NPCs in the main room, so you think it
is the main room, but they don't change the animations while
moving and so Breen doesn't hit Kleiner.
You see, in the lower room there's also no numbers and map screenshots on the gates.
But anyhow it's a nice illusion to make in the ep1 engine.
