Ion Rifle

Obsidian General.

Ion Rifle or Plasma Rifle?, this is just the name, not anything that effects the weapon it's self, and acording the the sound files, it's proper name is Ion.

Also, the weapon is going to take a while to do, as we have to wait for he team coder to help with it.

Though I am going to see when worfox is going to have some time to work on the model and I suppose I can start scripting what I can of the weapon(C++).

Side note, if we change the name from Plasma Rifle to Ion Rifle, I can easily edit my sig to say Ion Rifle. :D

If its gonna be a Ion rifle then make sure it doesnt end up like the one from Daikatana (ricocheting off walls and exploding upon contact with water).

Good idea and I like the name "Ion Rifle" and it's more original then "Plasma Rifle" .

Wait, isn't it gonna be like the Combine Ion Rifle? Where it has a constant beam and when you shoot it it sends a pulse of energy that deals tons of damage and ignites nearby objects?

Also, I think it should have a significant kickback, I mean, those pulses look like they'd throw you back a bit. Maybe launch the user back about 3-5 feet per shot.

I just got a idea,replace the lamba sign on it with oc sign.

If anything it would be called "The Road to Miami Gun" :P If we stick to HL2 fluff the torch guy is the only one to make that gun. A super charged Volga and ion guns ripped from bunker... those guys may actually make it to Miami :P

That's an awesome idea for a series of maps too... "The Road To Miami" just for that gun. If we get multipassanger vehicles just slap an ion battery charger at the back of the car... ARGH! AWESOME.

Well, I wasn't thinking about the ignition of objects, I was thinking only the charged shot does that, or maybe enough primary rounds could cause the ignition?

Yes, it has a lot of recoil, the primary shots have significant recoil and the secondary would have even more then the guess gun..

I thought it was the particle storm anyway, I was thinking the bean that the weapon always emits would be the play's custom color and the projectile would be blue, but we will see when the weapon gets to that stage.

What use would it be if it killed the person too? Should atleast just bring them down to one hp.

Screw realism, games are meant to be fun, i dont want any super strong knockback, super strong recoil or even kill-on-use shit.
