Actually, I feel it's the reverse - the modern ones have to live up to the standards set by the classics. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a lot of that happening so far, not even lately. That's not to say that 0% do - some do indeed manage to, but the significant majority don't, and that's sad. I wouldn't be surprised if some people start getting all defensive reading the above, accusing me of being old-fashioned and hindering progress because I find it laughable that that's being considered progress in the first place. Sometimes the goal shouldn't be to one-up or start some new trend, but instead to live up to the older road-tested standards. Everyone trying so desperately to one-up one another is the reason things are so ridiculously fast-paced and brutal these days, with people doing literally anything - ethical or otherwise - to get to the top. And it's an ugly sight.[/OffTopic]
